First Pentecostal Wisner bases its beliefs on the Bible. Here’s what we believe:
The Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
Salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus, and live according to His direction, we are saved. Acts 2:38
states: Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed and though He has manifested Himself in many different forms, including the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and burning bush, dove, wonderful counselor, peace, strength, wisdom... But there is only one God.
The Holy Ghost / Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God. The birth of the Spirit and the baptism of the Spirit are synonymous terms. Until a person is born of the Spirit, he cannot be called a "son" of God.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. -John 3:3-5.
The Church
We believe the church is our family. We believe the church should be the most comfortable place on the planet. What better place to receive encouragement, direction, and, yes, even correction? As the body of Christ on earth, the church is God’s ambassador to mankind. The church is one body made up of many members, diverse in their gifts and calling of the Holy Spirit.
The Second Coming
We believe that Jesus Christ is returning soon to receive his bride, a church without spot or blemish, unto Himself.
